Occasionally a session must be canceled — perhaps for inclement weather, or the unexpected illness of a presenter. In such cases, every effort will be made to notify ElderStudy members of the cancellation.
ElderStudy observes the UMW campus advisories. If the campus is closed due to weather conditions, any scheduled ElderStudy sessions for that day will not be held. In the case of delayed openings, ElderStudy observes the schedule set by the University.  The website Fredericksburg.com, local radio stations, and the UMW hotline (540–654–2424) can provide information on campus closings.
Even if the University is open, an ElderStudy session may still be cancelled. The presenter may have difficulty traveling, or ElderStudy leadership may decide that conditions warrant a cancellation.
When it is necessary to cancel a session for any reason, ElderStudy will make every effort to notify the membership, usually by email. Members who have no email are notified, when circumstances permit, by telephone.
